It’s almost Sunday and we’re ready for things to get even crazier in the NFL. Last week, I correctly predicted that Mark Andrews would not finish as a top-20 tight end. With that said, here are my Fantasy Football Bold predictions for week five.
1). Diontae Johnson will have 10 or more receptions
We get a slightly new look at the Pittsburgh Steelers offense with Kenny Pickett announced as the new starting quarterback, replacing Mitch Trubisky. Ben Roethlisberger loved targeting Johnson last year, but this season, while he still sees an average of nine targets per game, Trubisky hasn’t looked at him as often. Johnson had his worst game of the season last week, catching just two of four targets. This week I think he bounces back and has 10 or more receptions, which would be the second-highest of his career and the highest in the last two years.
The Buffalo Bills are one of the best defenses in the NFL and one of the strongest teams against wide receivers, allowing just 11.5 receptions per game to wide receivers. However, their defense continues to recover from injuries. I think this is a game that the Bills let go a little bit, and Diontae Johnson will be the main beneficiary.
2). Elijah Moore reaches 100+ yards and a touchdown
I’ll be honest, Elijah Moore let me down last week after catching just three of four targets. However, on Sunday, things will change enormously. I think this will be a big game for him, and he reaches 100 yards and a touchdown for the first time since last season.
Elijah Moore plays this week for the Miami Dolphins, who have allowed the fifth-most yards per game to wide receivers. This is also a game where I expect the Dolphins to lead most of the time. Zach Wilson will be forced to pitch, and he will find himself with Elijah Moore often. Call me crazy, but I think Moore has the best game of his career today. He’ll win people their fantasy matchups in a game where the Dolphins are a top-five team in most fantasy points allowed to receivers.
3). Josh Jacobs scores in single digits
The Kansas City Chiefs defense this season is on a whole different level than in years past, and it will make Josh Jacobs struggle on Monday night. Jacobs is coming off a 175-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Denver Broncos, putting up 34.5 points in league points per reception (PPR), but now faces the toughest running back defense this season . In general, teams don’t run often against the Chiefs, who allow an average of 16 attempts per game. Teams running the ball against the Chiefs are also inefficient, averaging 3.2 yards per carry for a league-low 52.2 yards per game.
That means the Raiders will be expected to pass often this week against a team that struggles defensively in the passing game. I don’t expect Josh Jacobs to find the end zone this week, which has been his bread and butter to hit his advantage and I think he will score in the single digits this week.
