Federal politicians granted a 2.75% salary increase.

The Remuneration Tribunal has awarded Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and all MPs their largest salary increase in the last decade.

As of July 1, they will enjoy a 2.75 percent salary increase, meaning Albanese’s salary will increase to more than $ 564,000 and MPs will earn $ 217,060 plus their allowances.

Dutton, as the leader of the opposition, will win about $ 401,000. Greens leader Adam Bandt will win $ 314,737 as the leader of a minority party with more than 10 representatives in parliament.

It is the largest increase the court has granted since 2012, when it granted 3 percent. Since 2014, it has granted a 2 percent salary increase from 2016 to 2019 and into other years.

The court’s decision comes ahead of Wednesday’s decision by the Fair and Independent Labor Commission on whether or not to raise the minimum wage, which is currently $ 20.33 an hour. It will be delivered at 10 a.m.

The court is obliged to take this decision into account, but as it has not been issued, it took into account last year’s decision.

In a statement, the court said MPs had not received a pay rise for three years.

“The court notes the resilience of the Australian economy and the stronger-than-expected recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement said.
