Ottawa firefighters completed a movie scene rescue Friday night after a driver’s car went off the side of the road and nearly plunged 15 to 20 feet into water.
Police notified firefighters of a collision at Bank Street and Riverside Drive at 8:27 p.m., where the driver appeared to have hit a tree or pole, a statement from Ottawa Fire Services said.
Firefighters arrived at the scene about four minutes after receiving the call and were told the driver was unconscious and trapped inside the car, reeling on the side of the road.
The vehicle was quickly tied down to prevent it from falling, but water rescue teams were dispatched as a precaution.

About 20 minutes after arriving at the scene, firefighters began to remove the door to get the driver out.
At 8:47 p.m., the door was completely removed, and the driver was ejected.
Ottawa Paramedics responded to the scene and the driver was taken to hospital.
His condition is unknown.
