Rising prices for fish and other materials are driving fish dinners off the menu and customers at the door of some Co Fermanagh chip shops
A xippy owner inside Enniskillen has described the impact of rising prices in recent months as he now charges more than £ 6 for his fish, after being at £ 4.70 just two months ago.
A Roslea fries store has even said it is removing fish from the menu altogether as it was unwilling to pass on additional prices to consumers.

Golden Arrow owner in Enniskillen, Gerry Ledwith, says some products have even doubled in price by 2022 and that these costs should be passed on to customers.
“It’s outdated in itself, a lot of people used to buy Russian cod, but they don’t do it anymore and Irish or English fishing boats are getting the best price wherever they go,” Gerry said. MyFermanagh.
“The order for the fish we would use is about £ 135 per box, and now it’s about £ 220.
“A fish in our place now cost £ 4.70 and is now £ 6, and that was just before Easter and, to be honest with you, it will increase.
“The most important thing now is that people do not enter through the door because the penny they have not gotten has been dropped.
“People who usually come to my door no longer have the income available.”

“We can’t go up prices every day, if and when it goes down, I’ll lower the price, but for now I can’t.”
In the southeast of the county, The Tasty Bite in Roslea said earlier this week that it was completely removing fish from its menu in response to rising prices.
“Just a small update to warn me, unfortunately, that I don’t have fish in stock right now,” he said in a Facebook post.
“At the moment I take it out of the menu because of the cost, you all know the increase in the price of everything.
“If I buy the fish right now at the price it is, I should charge at least an extra £ 2 per serving, which I don’t think is viable.”
