Fitbit “by Google” branding is starting to take over ahead of upcoming Pixel Watch integration guides

Fitbit today unveiled its new line of smartwatches and a new fitness tracker, and it’s clear that the brand’s new owner has a stronger influence this time around. Before the Pixel Watch introduces Fitbit to Google’s hardware lineup, “Fitbit by Google” appears to be the company’s new branding.

If you go to Fitbit.com today, you’ll notice that “by Google” has been added to the site’s navigation menu. The connection doesn’t seem as strong as some previous examples, such as when Google’s smartwatch platform was branded as “Wear OS by Google” — that branding has largely faded at this point as the platform becomes more flexible for partners.

Rather, the “Fitbit” and “by Google” branding bits are separate. On the website, the branding can be seen on opposite sides of the screen, with “Fitbit” on the far left. Meanwhile, “by Google” is only visible on the far right. For now, brand apps, social media accounts and other entities don’t have this new “from Google” addition.

Some promotional images of the Fitbit Sense 2 and Fitbit Versa 4 shared ahead of today’s unveiling also showed off the new branding.

This is the strongest presence Google has had on the Fitbit brand to date following its acquisition of the company in 2021.

That’s also ahead of the Pixel Watch, which will be the first Google-branded product with native Fitbit integration. Fitbit also prominently displays the Pixel Watch in its own online store, with the tagline “Help from Google. Health from Fitbit.”

Google Help Health from Fitbit. Get advanced wellness + optional 4G LTE connectivity in a circular design designed just for Android.

Fitbit also showed off a few more images of the Pixel Watch that we’ve seen before, but which give us a better look at Fitbit’s integration into the Wear OS smartwatch.
