Five children have been arrested and charged after a stabbing outside a western Sydney school that police say was the result of a “fight over a girl”.
Police were called to the scene outside LaSalle Catholic College in Bankstown at around 3.15pm on Wednesday and found three teenagers, all aged 15, injured.
One had stab wounds to the upper back, while another had been stabbed in the thigh. The third child had bruises on his face.
All were treated at the scene by paramedics and one child was taken to Westmead Hospital. He has since been discharged.
After an investigation, five teenagers aged 15 and 16 were arrested and charged with reckless wounding in company and affray. The police refused them bail and they will face a juvenile court on Thursday.
Bankstown Police Commander Superintendent Adam Johnson said police were looking for five other boys involved in the fight.
Several people fled before the police arrived.
Johnson said several people had recorded the altercation on cellphones that police have now obtained.
He said the footage had helped police identify the individuals, but called on those involved to hand themselves in immediately.
