Doug Ford seems to have extended his lead over the Liberals to the broadest point of the campaign, a new poll suggests as voters head to the polls on Thursday.
Ford computers have 38.8 percent support among determined voters, according to a new poll conducted Sunday through Tuesday for CP24 and CTV News by Nanos Research.
Meanwhile, the Liberals have 26.3% support and the NPD 24.7% support.
“As of May 31, progressive Conservatives continue to lead and enjoy a comfortable advantage over other parties,” pollster Nik Nanos said in a statement accompanying the poll results. “The most likely outcome is a victory for the computer with the only question being the magnitude of its seat’s advantage over the other parts.”
The latest result suggests that the Liberals continue to lose support, 4% less than the May 8 polls.
Meanwhile, Ontario’s NDP appears to be on the rise, up 5% from a previous May 17 Nanos poll.
It seems that the Greens are falling slightly from the high of 7.3% recorded after the performance of leader Mike Schreiner in the debate at prime time, which now stands at 6.1% among determined voters.
Two right-wing political parties, the Ontario Party and the New Blue Party, each have about two per cent support.
The latest Nanos poll of the election campaign shows that Ford is still the best choice among all age groups, from 18 to 34 to 55 or older, with its advantage over its nearest rival that oscillates. ยท Between 13 and 20 points.
Ford maintains a 16% lead over its nearest rival within the GTA and a 14% lead among non-GTA voters, the poll suggests.
Nanos found that about 8.4% of respondents are still unsure of who to vote for.
The survey was conducted May 29-31, using random samples from 500 adult landline, cell phone, and Internet subscribers.
Its margin of error is 4.4%, 19 times 20.
METHODOLOGY
Nanos conducted a two-line RDD (landline and mobile) hybrid online and landline random survey of 500 Ontario residents aged 18 and over between May 29 and 31, 2022 as part of a follow-up survey. Participants were randomly recruited by telephone through live agents and the survey was administered online and by telephone. The results were statistically verified and weighted by age and gender using the most recent census information and the sample is geographically stratified to be representative of Ontario.
People were called randomly by randomly dialing digits with up to five callbacks.
