A large fire has broken out in a Moscow business center with up to 40 people feared trapped.
At least two people have been injured, Russia’s emergency ministry said Friday morning.
People climbed onto the roof of the ten-story Grand Setun Plaza in the Kuntsevo district, about nine kilometers west of the Kremlin, to escape hell.
Nearly 200 firefighters fought desperately to save the lives of people trapped inside the award-winning concrete and glass structure.
Some 125 people have been rescued from the blazing building, authorities said.
Vladimir Putin’s newly appointed Minister of Emergencies, Major General Alexander Kurenkov, went to oversee the rescue efforts.
Kurenkov, the former Russian president’s bodyguard, said: “The search for people continues.”
A KA-32 helicopter is among the three planes deployed at the scene of the fire, the cause of which is not yet clear.
However, it is believed to be the latest in an unusual wave of fires, which is believed to be a domestic fire and possibly linked to the war with Ukraine.

Large feathers of dark smoke can be seen coming out of the building in images shared on Russia’s Twitter account in flames, which document daily flames across the country.
Russian news has pointed to a short circuit as the probable cause of the fire.
