The body of a missing Kelowna woman has been found.
Chelsea Cardno was reported missing on Tuesday, June 14, and police believed she had been dragged through the fast water of Mission Creek while walking her dog.
Cardno’s searches were unsuccessful, although the RCMP announced Friday that the owner of a farm found a body on a flooded property next to the stream.

On Saturday morning, Chelsea Cardno’s mother went on social media to confirm that her daughter’s body had been found.

“It’s with a very heavy heart that we have to announce that we’ve found our sweet Chelsea,” the Facebook post says.
“I have to take this time to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support over the past 11 days. To all who came to help us find, the tireless hours combing through the brush, hours walking by the Greenway, we left no stone unturned. The community came together to bring my Sweet Pea home, and I will be forever grateful. “

As of Saturday afternoon, the Facebook post had just over 500 comments of condolence and support.
The Facebook post also noted that Chelsea dog JJ is still missing and residents are being asked to keep their eyes open for him.

Police later confirmed that it was Cardno’s body that had been located.
“The Kelowna RCMP can confirm that the located body was that of a woman who was reported missing on June 14, 2022,” police said in a press release on Saturday afternoon, and went add that the BC forensic service was also called to the site.
“The family of the missing woman has been notified and they have confirmed the identification.”

“We are all sad about the outcome, but we hope the family can close in a bit and be able to start the healing process,” Const said. Mike Della-Paolera.
The RCMP said there is no criminal investigation and the Coroners Service will continue to be the lead investigator.
Police also thanked the search and rescue of Central Okanagan and the volunteers who helped search for Cardno.

The RCMP also said the missing dog has not been located and is believed to have been swept in Mission Creek.
