Four arrested two years after Omar Elomar’s death

Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Omar Elomar, who was shot dead in western Sydney two years ago.

Following investigations by the State Crime Command homicide team, the men, aged 20, 22, 23 and 25, were arrested at Macquarie Fields, Orange, Gregory Hills and Bonnyrigg at around 6 p.m. this Thursday morning and they are waiting for charges.

Elomar was shot in the chest in his car when he arrived at a meeting between two groups in Miller, near Liverpool, on February 15, 2020. He had no criminal record.

He was a relative of the Australian Islamic State terrorist Mohamad Elomar, but police confirmed that his death had nothing to do with his relative.

Detectives allege that Elomar was shot “in the cold” while sitting in the front seat of the car while trying to resolve a conflict peacefully.

In 2020, the commander of the homicide team, Detective Superintendent Detective Danny Doherty, said that “the purpose of this meeting was to solve a problem. There would be a peaceful resolution.”

In 2020, then-18-year-old Noah Albert was charged with his alleged involvement in the murder, but was acquitted of murder last year after a trial in the NSW Supreme Court.
