Four people have been taken to hospital after a shooting at an unauthorized car rally in Scarborough on Sunday night.
Toronto police said it happened in a parking lot near McCowan Road and Milner Avenue, north of 401 Highway.
Insp. Paul Krawczyk said officers arrived and found three men and a woman with gunshot wounds.
According to Toronto paramedics, one of the victims suffered serious and life-changing injuries, two others suffered serious injuries and a fourth man sustained minor injuries.
Krawczyk noted that they currently have no suspicious information, but said the shooter or shooters possibly left the area with a white or light-colored Honda Civic.
“This has been a busy day in Toronto, obviously for these kinds of events. And it’s very worrying for us,” he said.
Police are looking to speak to anyone who attended the car meeting and witnessed the incident. Krawczyk said there were a lot of people in the parking lot at the time of the shooting.
“There were a lot of nice, high-end cars here, which I think probably have dashboard images. And we ask anyone who has these dashboard images to provide them to the police or if they want to stay in the anonymity to pass. Crime Stoppers at 222-TIPS (8477), “he said
Officers cordoned off the entire parking lot while collecting evidence.
“You can see some marks of some white vehicles there. I think there was at least one of the shootings (that) there,” Krawcyzk said. “Obviously we also have some victim cars here, which have now gone to the hospital.”
“We will do our utmost to have a satisfactory conclusion of this investigation,” he added.
The shooting in Scarborough was the fourth Sunday in town. In the early afternoon, police responded to three separate shootings in two hours that left one man dead and three others seriously injured, including two teenagers.
Police have also not released any suspicious information about the incident.
