Four-star QB Eli Holstein, formerly chosen by Texas A&M commit Alabama

Alabama received a commitment from a 2023 Louisiana Class quarterback.

Eli Holstein made his promise on Tuesday morning in what has been a fascinating recruiting saga surrounding passersby struggling to replace Bryce Young. Adds intrigue to speculation about prospect No. 1 Arch Manning, who is scheduled to pay an official visit to Alabama on June 10th.

Holstein is the No. 54 general prospect in the 2023 class and the No. 8 quarterback, according to the 247Sports compound.

The rising Zachary, Louisiana senior retired from Texas A&M and reopened his recruitment.

At 6 feet 4 and 222 pounds, Holstein is the prototypical size for an elite quarterback. He also considered Florida, LSU, Miami, Ohio State and others before committing to Alabama, according to 247Sports.

Holstein won a trip to the prestigious Elite 11 camp in early May with a prominent performance in the Las Vegas area.

As a junior at Zachary, Holstein threw 3,200 yards and 44 touchdowns while leading his school to a perfect 15-0 record.
