Four men have been charged in connection with a pair of violent robberies carried out by a gang of masked thieves.
Police were called to report robberies in Blundellsands and Gateacre on Saturday 4 June. Four masked men were reportedly forcibly entered the houses and left with large quantities of jewelry.
At the entrance to Gateacre, a woman on the property was assaulted, according to Merseyside police. John Maloney, 34, announced the force this evening; Paddy Doran, 25; and John Toohey, 24, all of Oil Street in central Liverpool, were arrested along with Philip Purcell, 27, of Letterston Road in Rumney, Cardiff.

The two men have been charged with two counts of theft, aggravated theft and dangerous driving. A Merseyside police spokesman said: “At around 11.40am, police received a report of a burglary on Burbo Bank Road in Blundellsands.
“Four suspects with face masks were reportedly approached the resident of a property on the road and forced into his home before stealing a quantity of jewelry. Officers received another report of a second robbery. at Hillcrest Lodge in Cuckoo Lane around 12:50 p.m., when four men were forced into a property.
“A woman was assaulted at the house and a large amount of jewelery was also taken away. The blue Audi S4 was spotted by police in the area and was abandoned after a brief chase in Hale Village.”
The statement said the four suspects had been arrested and were due to appear in court in Liverpool tomorrow morning (Monday).
