Four-wheeler drivers find human remains on the remote Glasshouse Mountains track

Sunshine Coast detectives are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains found in the Glasshouse Mountains in southeast Queensland.

Two-wheeled men discovered the wreckage around noon yesterday on a remote forest trail inland in the Sunshine Coast.

Queensland police have designated a crime scene and preliminary examination indicates the remains are human.

“They will be sent for further scientific and forensic analysis, including gender establishment,” a QPS spokesman said.

An incident center has been set up at Maroochydore Police Station with police from the Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch, intelligence officers and scientific and crime scene officers.

Police are expected to provide an update at 2 p.m.
