Free solar systems and home appliance upgrades are being offered to eligible homes in New South Wales under a new $ 128 million government initiative.
The Energy Bill Buster program will be delivered to the next state budget by Treasurer Matt Kean.
Households that receive energy discounts will be able to opt for a free solar system or for energy-saving upgrades to appliances.

The latter option will be available for tenants and for people in homes not suitable for solar energy installations.
Prime Minister Dominic Perrottet said nearly a million NSW households would soon be eligible to participate in the program.
According to government figures, the solar system could save a household up to $ 600 a year, instead of the $ 285 annual discount for low-income households.
