Convoy organizer Tamara Lich was released from prison

Tamara Lich, one of the organizers of the occupation for a few weeks in downtown Ottawa, was released Monday from prison on the condition that she leave Ottawa. Lich was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with counseling for committing a crossing.

Lich was released on bail in March with conditions including staying out of social media. He cannot organize any kind of protest and is also not allowed to contact several of the other leaders of the convoy.

It is not yet clear what bail conditions he is accused of defaulting on.

Bail review

Lich was subjected to a bail hearing last month where prosecutors unsuccessfully asked her to detain her again for allegedly violating her bail condition which did not support anything related to the Freedom Convoy. Anti-COVID-19 restraint blocks blocked Ottawa for three weeks last winter as protesters parked trucks blocking access to the neighborhood and major arteries around Parliament Hill.

Weeks after she was released in March, Lich received a notification that she had been selected as the recipient of a Freedom Award, given by the Center for Justice for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), a registered legal and charitable organization. based in Calgary.

The Ottawa judge ruled that he would not revoke Lich’s bail and instead varied his terms to allow the trip to Ontario with a restriction that would prohibit him from entering the center of the capital.

Lich’s reasoning for wanting to travel back to Ottawa is protected by a court-ordered publication ban and cannot be denounced.
