Fugitive yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong charged with first-degree murder

A Texas yoga instructor who allegedly killed a romantic rival with a jealous rage was finally returned to Austin and was punished with a first-degree murder charge Tuesday.

Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, 34, returned to Austin six days after being arrested in Costa Rica, hiding and studying yoga with an altered appearance and apparent cosmetic surgery.

Armstrong was booked Tuesday afternoon for the May 11 murder of 25-year-old Anna Moriah Wilson, who had a romantic affair with Armstrong’s boyfriend and went swimming with him hours before they killed her.

The assaulted yogi is also facing charges for theft of services to leave with a $ 654 Botox bill from a local spa in 2018, according to prison records in Travis County, Texas.

She returned to the United States on Saturday, with an ABC video showing her escorted by U.S. marshals off Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Saturday.

Armstrong’s assassination and elaborate effort to evade arrest attracted national interest and sparked an international hunt that lasted more than a month.

Her longtime boyfriend Colin Strickland, also a cyclist, had gone out with Wilson last fall while she was supposedly out with Armstrong. Armstrong learned of the adventure in January and told a friend he “wanted to kill Wilson,” according to a police affidavit released by the American statesman from Austin.

Strickland has been reported to have denied an ongoing relationship with Wilson, but lied to Armstrong about her whereabouts when she met Wilson on May 11 when she was visiting Austin from San Francisco to prepare for an upcoming career.

Strickland picked up Wilson at his friend’s house on a motorcycle, went swimming and had dinner before leaving, according to the affidavit. A vehicle matching Armstrong’s black Jeep Grand Cherokee was seen arriving at the friend’s house moments after leaving Wilson.

She was found later that night, shot several times in a bathroom of the residence, according to the affidavit. Armstrong was later questioned by police during the shooting, but was reportedly released due to a technical failure to order the Botox tab. It is unclear why it took police so long to arrest Armstrong for service theft.

The yoga instructor sold the Jeep for $ 12,200 and took a flight from Austin to New York. Days later, she was dropped off at Newark Liberty International Airport and used a valid passport that belonged to someone else to catch a flight to Costa Rica.

When she was arrested at a hostel last week, authorities said she wore a bandage on her nose and had her hair cut and dyed a light reddish-brown to a darker hue.

A witness told “Inside Edition” that he left his passport, a passport from his sister and a $ 6,350 receipt for cosmetic surgery.
