The new beta version of Overwatch 2 follows the closed alpha test held in late April, which saw the series reach Twitch’s maximum audience. Since then, Blizzard has announced that the PvP part of Overwatch 2 will be released in early access on October 4 and will be free.
Developed over the past few years, Overwatch 2 has undergone several major changes, the most notable of which is the decision to release the PvP and PvE sections of the game separately. Overwatch 2 is also reconfiguring the team’s compositions to be 5 to 5 instead of 6 to 6, while re-equipping its existing list of heroes.
Much more information about Overwatch 2 will be revealed during the game’s showcase event on June 16th. Until then, stay tuned to IGN to see all the big announcements as the summer of games continues.
