Games Entertainment IGN Themes Undertale creator Toby Fox is composing music for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

It’s a big day for fans of Toby Fox’s soundtrack: the independent developer and songwriter behind Undertale is working on the music for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Today, Fox shared a tweet with new trailer and announced that he had composed the field theme for the game. According to Fox, Game Freak organized a draft of its composition in several versions that will be played throughout the game.

Although the instrumentation doesn’t sound particularly good in Undertale, you can still hear snippets of his characteristic musical style in the next trailer.

I had the honor of composing field music for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet! After creating a conceptual sketch, Game Freak organized it into many versions that you will hear throughout the game. You can hear some of it in this trailer … https://t.co/dhjv4e9fQN

He will also compose a few more songs for the games. This isn’t the first time Fox has composed a song for a Pokémon game: it created a battle theme for Sword and shield of 2019, although today’s news is a bigger step in the world of Pokémon music for Fox. “This time, my music is not optional !!!” he said in response.

Fox’s compositional skills were originally recognized thanks to the success of the Undertale i Deltarune soundtracks, the first of which we called “excellent” in our game review. Since its release in 2015, Undertale’s music has become so iconic that even Pope has even heard an Undertale song.

Scarlet and Violet Pokémon: 38 new screenshots
