Gas prices continue to rise in record in Calgary across Canada

The price of fuel across Canada remains a central point of discussion among drivers facing very high prices at the pump.

According to the Canadian Automobile Association, the average gas price nationwide is 208.4 cents per liter as of Tuesday morning.

In Alberta, the average price of fuel is about 183.6 cents per liter, according to GasBuddy.com.

The 13-cent-per-provincial provincial gas tax, which was temporarily suspended on April 1, will be back online on July 1.

The average price of fuel in Calgary was 155.5 cents per liter throughout April when the tax was first put on the shelf, but now Calgary faces an average price of 183, 6 cents per liter.

The inflated cost of fuel is now prompting calls from the Alberta NDP to extend the gas tax holiday until at least October to help struggling Albertans.

The Prime Minister’s Office says the suspension of the fuel tax depends on keeping the price of oil above $ 90 a barrel.

Many Albertans have canceled or are adjusting their summer vacation plans due to exorbitant gas prices.

A new Tire and Rubber Association of Canada survey suggests that 66 per cent of drivers plan to cancel or limit their road trips this summer due to rising petrol prices.
