During the Summer Games Fest, we got to know the sleek urban RPG Zenless Zone Zero more closely. It comes from miHoYo, the developer behind Genshin Impact.
In Zenless Zone Zero you play Proxy, a battle-hardened guide who helps industrialists on expeditions. You are looking for valuable resources from Ethereals, jumping creatures that come from a gap called Hollows. These bleach-like monstrosities also serve as the common denominator of the post-apocalyptic city of New Eridu, the last surviving city of ZZZ.
After the apocalypse, New Eridu experienced an industrial boom taking advantage of Hollow’s supernatural powers. Now, people from all walks of life are hiring Proxies to eliminate the Ethereals, who do it with all the style and grace of a Studio Trigger anime. As a proxy, you live a dual life, accepting commissions from clients to explore various dungeons in Hollows while being an elegant AF walking the seemingly quiet streets of New Eridu. In addition to performing unique attacks and combos with each Proxy character, ZZZ also has roguelike mechanics rooted in his game.

HoYoverse fans already know that developers don’t skimp on their inventive character designs, and it looks like ZZZ could maintain that reputation. He practically gets a perfect bingo with his set of role-playing characters featured in his ad trailer, especially with the inclusion of a bear with an ice cream pistol with a gold chain.
Since its announcement, ZZZ has revealed the biography of one of its Proxy factions, Gentle House AKA Cunning Hares, including its leader, the pink-haired lady named Nicole Demara.
Clearly, there is still a lot of information to come, with the game already in closed beta. The release of Zenless Zone Zero is scheduled for PC and iOS.
