People living in parts of Georgia woke up Saturday morning with an earthquake.
The quake, which struck central Georgia at around 4 a.m., was initially reported as magnitude 4.5 by the U.S. Geological Survey, but was confirmed to be 3.9, which is considered minor. .
A magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported near Statesboro, Georgia, shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday.
However, according to News4JAX WKMG’s sister station, Saturday’s quake was the fifth strongest in the area. The largest earthquake ever recorded in the state was magnitude 4.5 in 1914.
The epicenter was located in Candler County, on the outskirts of Statesboro, between Macon and Savannah.
According to WKMG, the quake was felt as far south as Brunswick and as far north as Columbia, South Carolina. Moderate tremors were reported near the epicenter of the East Stillmore earthquake, and light tremors were also heard in the Atlanta metropolitan area.

It comes a day after a magnitude 2.5 earthquake shook the area near Harlem in Columbia County.
There was no major damage from the quake.
Earthquakes of this magnitude are rare for the peach state, WKMG reported. There have been only 10 earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 or more since 1903.
