May 30 (Reuters) – The president of Georgia’s separatist region of South Ossetia on Monday suspended a previously announced referendum on whether to join Russia until consultations with Moscow are completed.

“Until the end of the consultations, you will suspend the Decree of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia dated May 13, 2022 ‘On the convening of a referendum of the Republic of South Ossetia’,” he said. President Alan Gagloyev in a decree.
