Glastonbury: Thunderstorms and torrential showers for the festival

Attendees at the Glastonbury festival “may have to take refuge if they can” with storms expected over much of the south of England, the Met Office has warned.

The warm weather spell will end today with thunderstorms and lightning in the south of England, East Anglia, the Midlands and East Wales. The Met office issued a yellow warning from 10 a.m. to midnight and storms are expected to erupt this afternoon and early evening.

Meteorologists predict gusty winds, torrential downpours and hail, with some places with up to 60mm of rain in a few hours, creating a small chance of flooding.

Attendees at the festival were warned to pack their bags for an eventuality with the rain forecast over the weekend along with today’s yellow warning from the Meteorological Bureau for storms.
