Google Maps will now help you better plan your trip with a new feature that will add tolls to your route. So you can choose the option that is cheaper or has no toll.
The feature is available to users on both iOS and Android, in the US, India, Japan and Indonesia, with support for more countries along the way. Previously, Google Maps only showed you if a particular route has a toll.
The company has collected toll prices from local authorities for about 2,000 roads in these countries. Given the large road network in these regions, it’s not much, but at least it’s a start.
“We look at factors like having a toll pass or not, what day of the week it is, along with how much the toll is expected to cost at the specific time you cross it,” the company said in a forum. publication.
“You will have the option within the settings to show toll prices with or without a toll pass, as in many geographies the price changes depending on the payment method you use.”
The switch to see toll prices is on by default, but you can change it to Settings> Navigation> View toll prices.
The company first announced this feature in April. But we’ve seen tweets about the feature being released to users in recent weeks. New post on Google Map forum confirms wider availability.
Last week, the app made it easier for you to check your Air Quality Index (AQI) in the area you’re visiting.
