A 15-year-old Sudbury resident faces numerous charges after Greater Sudbury police said the teenager stole a car and fled police in the early hours of the morning of July 2nd. capture.
GSPS reported that before 5 a.m. Saturday, an officer was in the Valleyview Road area of Val Caron when he attempted to make a traffic stop in a dark gray 2015 Dodge Challenger.
The driver, however, had other ideas, ignoring the flashing lights of the cruise and fleeing at high speed west along Valleyview Road.
Additional agents were called in to search for the vehicle, which was eventually located abandoned in a ditch.
“Officers also noticed that two people were hiding in a nearby wooded area,” GSPS reported. “When the agents approached the two individuals, they ran out through the bush.
A brief chase on foot caused one of the two to be arrested, but the other individual fled further into the bush and dodged the capture.
“When officers ran the vehicle through a database, it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from an address on Arnold Street in Greater Sudbury.”
The 15-year-old police officer arrested that night has been charged with:
- Motor vehicle theft;
- Possession of property obtained for a felony in excess of $ 5,000;
- Peace officer flight;
- Resist Peace Officer, i;
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
The young man was released with the promise to appear and has a court appearance on September 7.
“The second person involved in this incident is still pending and we are asking for the assistance of the citizenry to identify the person,” police said.
The person is described as a young man, about 5-8 tall, of slender build and wearing a bright red or orange shirt at the time of the incident.
