Former Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt reunited for Goop, and while the interview is tied to cashmere, it’s a delightful journey down the road of memory for anyone who remembers their 25-year romance. And it is clear that the two look back on their time together with affection.
Gwyneth and Pitt met in 1994 filming Se7en. He proposed in 1996, but they broke up the following year. Pitt was very close to Gwyneth’s father, actor Bruce Paltrow, throughout their relationship. In an interview published Tuesday, Pitt attributes the Paltrows to having introduced him to some of life’s luxuries.

“Bruce taught me about cashmere, what a good red bottle is: what a good bottle of wine means and how to experience it. And I really appreciate that. Spending time with both of them took some of my limits. country. ” shared the Oklahoma native. “It tickled my fancy gene that I always had somewhere in there but didn’t have access to.”
While Pitt was promoting his new God True Cashmere company, available on Goop, of course, the interview quickly became personal.
“Because it’s almost Father’s Day, I’ll ask you about Bruce. I’ll never forget when we were engaged and one day he came to me with tears in his eyes and said, ‘You know, I never really realized of what they mean when they say you’re raising a child. Like, I’m raising a child. ”What impact did it have on you? Why did you love him, even though we didn’t get married, unfortunately,” Gwyneth asked.
“Yeah, yeah,” Pitt laughed. “Oh man, everything’s fine, isn’t it?”
“Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like Brad got me married. It only took me 20 years,” Gwyneth said. The Talented Mr. Ripley married writer Brad Falchuk in 2018.
Pitt said “it’s lovely” to have the actress “as a friend now” and she agreed.
“And I love you,” Pitt added.
“I love you so much,” Gwyneth replied.
Pitt praised Bruce for his upbringing style, telling Gwyneth that “it really fostered your voice, your independence.

“It cut out the way for you to be who you are. And I think that’s very important for parenting, you know? So the kid is free to figure out who they are and what they like and what they don’t. You guys were so free in the “Your conversations. And witty. And smart. And as funny as shit,” Pitt recalled. “You were so much fun together, breaking the table, which was a rarity I hadn’t experienced much, and I loved it. The fun you had was contagious. You can only see how much I loved you.”
Gwyneth’s 18-year-old daughter Apple, who she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin, is apparently “as funny as Bruce.”
Gwyneth has spoken before about how Bruce adored Pitt.
“My father was so devastated when we separated,” he told Howard Stern in 2015. “My father loved him like a son.” Gwyneth did not confirm that she left Pitt, but said: “I was a child.
“I was 22 when we met. It took me until I was 40 to get my head off my ass. You can’t make that decision when you’re 22,” he recalled. “He wasn’t ready, and he was too good for me … I didn’t know what he was doing.”
