Harry and Meghan introduce Queen Elizabeth to baby Lilibet for the first time at Windsor Castle

Royal observers predicted that Queen Elizabeth would reunite with Harry and Meghan’s daughter Lilibet, their first birthday, which is Saturday, but it looks like they have already met.

It is understood that the 96-year-old monarch – who is in the midst of the celebrations of the platinum jubilee that marks her 70th year on the throne – met her great-granddaughter on Thursday at Windsor Castle.

“Of course we know that the Queen returned to Windsor Castle yesterday, the couple also returned to Windsor, where they are staying at Frogmore Cottage,” Royal commentator Omid Scobie told The Sun on Friday.

“So it would have been the first time or the first opportunity for her to meet her namesake.”

Scobie said no photos of the queen’s first meeting with Lilibet, who shares the monarch’s childhood nickname, would probably be published.

“From what I’m told, we shouldn’t expect anything,” he said.

“These moments with Lilibet are very private between them and the queen, and of course we know how much she has been waiting for him.

“They have been slowed down by a pandemic.

“And so this was really the first time.”

Thanksgiving service

Harry and Meghan will appear in public alongside Prince William and Kate on Friday morning, UK time, for a Thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

It will be the first time the former “fabulous four” have been seen together in public since Harry and Meghan left the royal functions and moved to California.

It will also be her first public outing with other important members of the royal family since she left “The Firm” in 2020 and gave her big interview to Oprah Winfrey.

The queen will not attend church service after experiencing “discomfort” during the Trooping the Color and Balcony ceremonies held on Thursday.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – 2 JUNE Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, Prince George of Cambridge and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, watch a flying step from the balcony of Buckingham Palace during Trooping the Color on June 2, 2022 in London, England. Trooping The Color, also known as The Queen’s Birthday Parade, is a military ceremony held by British Army regiments that has been taking place since the mid-17th century. The official birthday of the British sovereign is celebrated. This year, from June 2 to June 5, 2022, there is the additional celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth to commemorate the 70th anniversary of his accession to the throne on February 6, 2022. 1952. Prince Andreu will not attend either, after suffering COVID-19.

Scobie said Harry and Meghan planned to keep a “low profile” during their stay in the UK.

They were not invited to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the festivities on Thursday, after the Queen decided that only “working members” of the royal family would appear.

Instead, Harry and Meghan watched the Trooping the Color event from an office balcony overlooking Horse Guards Parade.

Aside from Lilibet, who will soon be one year old, Harry and Meghan have a three-year-old son, Archie.
