Harry and Meghan were first seen at the Jubilee celebrations

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been seen at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in their first public appearance in the UK together since they left as members of the royal family.

The royal couple was spotted watching Trooping the Color, the queen’s birthday parade, from the major general’s office overlooking the horse guard parade.

Meghan was seen giving a playful silence to Mia and Lena Tindall, the little daughters of Zara and Mike Tindall, as she smiled in a wide-brimmed cream-colored hat with a navy blue ribbon.

She was then seen sharing a joke with Savannah Phillips, the daughter of Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips, and his ex-wife Autumn Kelly.

Harry and Meghan were also photographed chatting with the 86-year-old Duke of Kent, the queen’s cousin, who stayed with her on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the final part of Trooping the Color.

Harry appeared to be wearing a suit instead of a military uniform like his father and brother, after being stripped of his honorary titles after resigning as royal.

The couple and their two children flew to the UK from their home in California this week before the celebrations to mark the Queen’s 70th birthday.

The Duke and Duchess left as working members of the royal family in January 2020 and said they would split their time between the UK and North America.

Their decision came after a long Christmas vacation on Vancouver Island in Canada, where they stayed for two and a half more months before moving to California.

The pandemic affected shortly after the decision was made and the couple has stayed mainly in the United States.

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, they said they had been forced to quit their roles because the royal family would not help Meghan’s mental health as she struggled to cope with the sensationalist allegations.

The queen has not yet met her second child, Lilibet, who bears her name, as the few times Harry and Meghan have returned to Europe they have left their children in the United States.

Sky News understands that the Queen will meet Lilibet for the first time on Saturday instead of going to the Epsom Derby. It will be Lilibet’s first birthday.

Archie, the eldest son of Harry and Meghan, has not been to the UK since he was six months old.

Meghan has only been to the UK once since she and Harry moved to North America, while Prince Harry has made some visits, including to the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh last year.

The couple stopped one day in April to visit the Queen on her way to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands.
