Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein will be charged with two new charges of assault on modesty.
Weinstein, 70, is accused of indecently assaulting a woman in London in August 1996, the British Crown Prosecutor’s Office (CPS) said.
The evidence has been reviewed by the Metropolitan Police, said Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crimes Division.
“The Crown Prosecutor’s Office reminds all concerned that the criminal proceedings against the accused are active and that he is entitled to a fair trial,” he added.
Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape in the United States.
A New York jury found him guilty of first-degree felony sexual assault and third-degree rape.
He will be 87 years old when he is entitled to parole in November 2039.
Weinstein’s legal team said at the time that it intended to appeal the conviction.
