What would you do if you came across 75 bison while traveling on Yellowstone’s Grand Loop Road? (YouTube)
Estimated reading time: less than one minute
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK: Bison are amazing creatures that should always be appreciated from a distance. The National Park Service recommends that you always keep a minimum distance of 25 meters at all times and that you always take into account the behavior of the animals.
The dangers of proximity to bison were recently reinforced when a man was horned near Old Faithful in Yellowstone.
So I was intrigued to see this video of a cyclist passing in front of a large herd of bison.
According to the video description, the cyclist is a 27-year-old named Caleb Dvorak. He encountered 75 bison as he traveled down Yellowstone’s Grand Loop Road.
What would you do in a situation like this? Would you keep rolling down the road, like Dvorak did? Or would you escape as far away from the road as possible to give more space to the bison?
