It looks like we will receive the latest installment of Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles series much earlier than we thought. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was announced during a Nintendo Direct in February and was initially scheduled for release in September, but that date was later brought forward to release on July 29th.

The upcoming action JRPG is set in the world of Aionios, which is currently being devastated by two warring nations, Keves and Agnus. These two colonies use specially designed soldiers who are bred to fight with a lifespan of only 10 years. The world of Xenoblade Chronicles is a mixture of science fiction fantasy, where Keves is a technologically advanced nation that uses various wicks to support its troops, while Agnus’ army is competent with the magical technology known as ether.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you play as a group of teenagers from rival nations who join in a quest to save Aionios and defeat a great hidden evil.

If you’ve played one of the previous Xenoblade Chronicles games, you’ll know what to expect with this one: multi-layered combat mechanics, different character classes, an expansive world full of unique characters, and a lot of grinding. A recent Nintendo Switch Direct gave us a good overview of what to expect from Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and you can see Kotaku’s reaction to what we saw here. While you can grab this game without having played in previous installments, if you’re not someone who can stand an aggressive role-playing shit, maybe this isn’t the game for you.

Prior to its release in late July, we’ve collected everywhere you can grab a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for a cheap price in Australia.
