Australia’s most prominent escort has announced she is “hanging up her chops” for good in favor of her “traditional and conservative” roots in a bid to get her life back on track.
Samantha X launched her successful career as an escort after quitting her job as a magazine reporter over a decade ago and hasn’t looked back, until now.
In an exclusive interview with stellar magazine, the late 1940s Sydneysider revealed she would be ditching her famous pen name and embracing her real name, Amanda Goff.
This bold move also comes with a surprising overhaul of her current lifestyle, with Amanda instead opting to reclaim her “very traditional and conservative” identity.
“It makes a lot of sense why I created the character Samantha. From a young age, I was able to dissociate and compartmentalize part of my life,” she said stellar
“Creating Samantha was a way of dealing with certain traumas in my life, Samantha was a strong and powerful character, and Amanda was and is a bit of an introvert, very traditional and conservative.
“Before I went to work as Samantha, I would literally say ‘Showtime.’ I felt invincible.”
Amanda understands her switching between her two personalities as a manifestation of her bipolar diagnosis.
“I was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder. I was so relieved there was a name for my madness,” she said.
“At the time, I had no problem going public despite the shock from friends and family.
“It was like I couldn’t understand their concerns. I closed myself off. I was in a kind of level, which I now understand is a mania.”
Amanda says her bipolar years unlocked confusion about her actions and behavior as Samantha X, her high-profile spy alter ego.
“Now that the fog has started to clear, I’m ashamed of some of my choices, especially making it public,” she revealed.
“I don’t recognize the woman who did this and it’s mortifying to me. I’m not blaming my bipolar or saying it’s all because of my bipolar.
“But would I have made those decisions if I had been diagnosed and medicated? Chances are, I wouldn’t have been so public about it.”
Despite the life-changing move to reclaim her original identity as Amanda Goff, she added that she “owes a lot” to Samantha X and is still an advocate for the adult industry.
“Samantha saved me. I owe her a lot,” he said.
“I know it helped a lot of people and I’m still a huge supporter of the adult industry. But I’m doing so much work on myself now that I don’t need Samantha anymore.
“Her once strong character is fading and it’s time to start a new chapter as Amanda. This is who I am and this is what I want to be.”
