Highway No. 1 is closed in both directions near Belle Plaine, Sask. which lies between Regina and Moose Jaw.
The RCMP said that around 6am CST, officers were on site to investigate the area.
The freeway hotline says motorists can expect delays of up to six hours, as the RCMP directs traffic on network roads to avoid congestion.
The RCMP said it is unknown how long the road closure will last.
