Homes still without water almost 30 hours after the explosion of the water network

Hundreds of homes and businesses in west Norfolk are still without water after a water network exploded nearly 30 hours ago.

People living in parts of west Norfolk have been without a water supply since noon on Saturday (July 16).

Currently, water supplies are affected in parts of North Wootton, South Wootton and Castle Rising, near King’s Lynn.

Initially, a spokesman for Anglian Water said engineers were trying to fix the “complex” problem, which saw the main water network burst along the Spring Lane bike lane in Gaywood, and expected the work was completed and supplies returned at 6 p.m. this evening.

Now, according to the Anglian Water website, supplies are not expected to recover until at least 10pm tonight.

This would mean that some houses have been left without running water for more than 34 hours.

With the ongoing heat wave that has recorded highs of up to 30ÂșC across the county, concern was raised about the well-being of affected and most vulnerable households.

This prompted action by communities in and around West Norfolk to bring water to those who needed it.

Bottles of water were handed out on Sunday in North Wootton and South Wootton town halls.
