“Horrible” allegations in British Columbia undercover training course are a quick investigation

A Global News investigation has uncovered disturbing allegations related to numerous law enforcement agencies in BC, and the Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner has confirmed that its own investigation is underway.

According to sources, about 24 police officers were attending a covert training course, conducted by the BC Municipal Police Chiefs Association, at a downtown Vancouver hotel earlier this month. Officers from the Surrey, Vancouver, Abbotsford and New Westminster police departments, as well as the Vancouver Metro Traffic Police, attended.

These officers were asked to play a role and show how they could convince those on the wrong side of the law that they were not cops. In one case, this allegedly involved defecating another person, sexually used food, and other, even more perverse acts.

Sources tell Global News that the course was stopped immediately and some agents found the role play so disturbing that they reported it to their supervisors.

When asked about the investigation, Attorney General Mike Farnworth said any investigation would also involve the director of police services in his ministry.

“It sounds disgusting, if these accusations are really correct. It’s scary, frankly,” Farnworth said.

RCMP members also attended the training but did not attend, according to Global News.

“There is no internal or external investigation by the RCMP agency that deals with any complaint against an RCMP employee or employees related to the course or concerns you raised,” the RCMP told Global News in a statement.

Nine of the participating municipal officers are believed to be under investigation.
