Who is eligible for flood recovery payments?
A flood recovery payment is a lump sum of $ 1,000 per eligible adult or $ 400 for each eligible child.
To be eligible, you must live in one of the LGAs listed and have been substantially affected by the floods.

If you are the immediate relative of a person who has died or disappeared in the floods, you are eligible.
If the flood was seriously injured, you can also get the cash payment.
If the flood caused significant damage to your home or a significant asset in your home, such as a car, caravan, or machinery, you are eligible.
How do people request their payments?
Individuals can request payments through the Services Australia website or by telephone once the flood assistance portal has been set up.
Currently, Services Australia says that “the Australian government has announced financial assistance for people affected by the floods in NSW. You can claim from 2pm on Thursday 7 July. We will have more information available soon.”
When will people receive their payments?
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said applications for payment will be open from 2pm tomorrow and that payments will be made to bank accounts “as soon as possible”.
To what extent must a house be damaged in order to receive a payment?
Minor water damage is not enough to be eligible for a disaster recovery payment.
Significant damage includes whether the home is destroyed or needs to be demolished, whether the interior has been exposed to the weather, or whether it is declared structurally uncomfortable.
If wastewater has reached your home, you are also eligible.
If the flood has caused significant damage to your flood or to the furniture, electrical items, or metal items in the home that need to be replaced, you can also opt out.

Who can claim payments?
Couples are eligible to claim disaster support payments if both have been affected.
Two claims must be made.
You can also claim on behalf of a child in whose charge you are the primary caregiver.
But it cannot be claimed on behalf of someone who has died.
Payments will also be available to eligible New Zealand citizens, those with unprotected special category visas and holders of subclass 444, affected by the floods.
