How to solve the graveyard puzzle in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course includes lots of secrets to discover, just as the base game did all these years ago. But the most prevalent and complicated this time is the cemetery and the broken relic that unlocks its mysteries.

The cemetery in question is located at the southernmost point of DLC Island, just above the location of the fighting of The Howling Aces chiefs. You can’t miss it, but if you happen to do so, the detective ghost NPC hiding next to you will be a dead gift.

To complete this strange secret puzzle, you must first purchase the Broken Relic, one of many new items added to the item store that you can purchase with coins, either from the main quest or through DLC Island.

When you have this item, be sure to equip it to your character. Then, you want to press the following headstones in order: first, the top middle, then the bottom left, and finally the top right. Doing so will activate the middle tomb with a light beacon to show that you have completed the puzzle.

For those wondering how to fix this, there are plenty of NPCs on the podiums in the north of the island that give you clues as to which headstones to select based on their dialogue. The one on the podium first says they go to “Top” as an example, while the second one says the words “Left Downtown,” hinting at the lower left tomb.

The dialogue you receive will be different in each session, so you will need to pay attention to what the NPCs have to say. Their directions will affect which gravestones you will need to choose to solve the puzzle. If you’re just getting started with the puzzle, you can take notes from the dialog to make sure you select the correct headstones on the first try.

Completing this little puzzle will unlock a secret boss in the game by interacting with the tombstone in the middle. Then defeating the boss will upgrade the broken relic to its real form: the cursed relic.
