Huge fire breaks out in Feltham as ‘loud explosion’ heard near Heathrow airport

Around 70 firefighters have been taken to a large blaze in Feltham this evening.
A “loud explosion” was earlier heard from the scene, less than two miles from Heathrow Airport.
The blaze involved trees, hedges, bushes and sheds at the rear of a number of properties on Hereford Road, London Fire Brigade said.

The blaze involved trees, hedges, bushes and sheds at the rear of a number of properties on Hereford Road, London Fire Brigade said.
A Sunday Times best-selling author took to Twitter with images of the blaze as he landed at the UK’s biggest airport at around 5pm.
Robert Harris said: “Coming in to land at Heathrow just before 5pm today. The burnt fields. The fire!’
Crews have removed a number of gas cylinders that were involved in the fire, as some can explode when exposed to heat.
Around 44 calls were made to 999 since 4.30pm, with crews from Hillingdon, Kingston, Southall, Surbiton, Tooting and surrounding fire stations at the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
