Hundreds of websites went offline after a disruption to the Cloudflare web infrastructure service.
The outage affected websites such as the Discord messaging platform and Shopify e-commerce service.
The National Rail Inquiries website was also down and could have been affected, but was already experiencing an increase in traffic due to today’s rail strikes that could have caused connection issues.
Visitors to this site and others saw a message that read, “500 Internal Server Error,” according to Down Detector Web Monitoring Service and Internet users.
Cloudflare, an American company, says the problem is already solved.
In a series of posts on Twitter he confirmed that he was aware of the “current problems of the service” and said that his team was “working to resolve it as soon as possible”.
The American company is a content delivery service and its technology helps to feed many of the major websites that Internet users use every day.
Microsoft’s Outlook e-mail platform was also affected by service issues on Tuesday.
According to Microsoft’s service status website itself, some Outlook users “may not be able to access their mailboxes by any connection method” and may find “delays in sending, receiving, or access to emails “.
The Microsoft issue is not related to the Cloudflare outage.
