Police say 86-year-old Betty Ann Williams, better known as Rusty, was killed after her neighbor’s dogs escaped from the backyard and attacked her while guarding the garden of her home on Capitol Hill. around 2 p.m.
The three dogs, believed to be a mixture of American pit bull terrier, a mixture of American Staffordshire and a American pit bull, have been captured by the city.
Alberta Health Services investigated the delayed response. AHS said the 911 call center initially sent the call only to the police, based on information provided by the person who called. Information provided to the EMS by police indicated that the situation was not urgent.

Nicola said he called 911 at 2:01 p.m., and the ambulance arrived around 2:35 p.m. He said his initial interaction with 911 ended with the operator telling him to call back “if things change.” City officials arrived at the scene minutes later and tried to get an ambulance to respond.

Regardless of how she develops, Nicola said she is glad she and her husband were there for Williams in their final moments.
“The only good thing that came out of that was that we were there with Rusty in the end,” he said.
“She had someone who really cared for her. If we hadn’t been here, there wouldn’t have been anyone here. She would have been alone.”
The Alberta Health Sciences Association said it would not comment further on the matter on Wednesday, saying “it is up to AHS and Alberta Health to clarify what happened. We do not have access to the health care chain. ‘events, they do.’
Postmedia has requested the transcript or audio of the 911 call from Calgary City Council, but has not yet received a response.
Police say they are consulting the 911 call log on Sunday to determine who was sent when and the order of events. They said they hope to share something in the coming days.
The criminal investigation into the matter continues. The dog owner could face charges, depending on the outcome of the investigation, and the dogs could be slaughtered.
