An Adelaide man has pleaded guilty to kidnapping a four-month-old boy after he stole a car in Klemzig on Monday with the baby still inside.

Para Hills man Ilias Sammy Latsis, 37, appeared in Adelaide Magistrates’ Court via a video link Tuesday afternoon, where his lawyer pleaded guilty to robbery and kidnapping.
Latsis stole a Honda Jazz that had the baby in the back seat from outside a delicatessen on Fourth Avenue in Klemzig on Monday morning.
His lawyer Stephen Ey told the court that his client wanted to express his remorse for the distress he caused the baby’s mother.
The court heard that Latsis would negotiate with prosecutors a charge of committing an act that could cause harm.
He also pleaded guilty to another car theft that took place earlier this month.

On Monday, police said the baby’s mother was inside the deli when a man stopped with a stolen Mazda and changed cars.
The car was found abandoned in Enfield 2 hours later with the boy inside.
The baby was reunited with his mother at the scene, and police said he was “healthy and safe” after being evaluated by paramedics.
Latsis was arrested in prison for re-trial in late June.
