The number of Monkeypox cases in Canada has risen to 77.
Seventy-one of these cases are in Quebec, five in Ontario and one in Alberta.
The Public Health Agency of Canada updated the case numbers on Friday evening.
Canada confirmed its first two Monkeypox cases on May 19th.
During a briefing on Friday, Public Health Director Dr. Theresa Tam told reporters that the virus is not exclusively connected to any group or environment: “Anyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, could be infected. spread and spread the virus if it comes in. close contact, including intimate sexual contact with an infected person or a contaminated object “.
The PHAC continues to collect and analyze epidemiological information reported by provinces and territories to help define the national scope of research.
As the investigation progresses, the Agency says additional cases are expected to be reported in the country.
