Influential niece Waidhofer commits suicide at age 31 after the last act on social media

A social media influencer and mental health advocate has taken her own life at 31 years old.

The family of niece Waidhofer confirmed the news after fans worried when the model cleaned up her Instagram, which has 4.2 million followers, of all posts less than three.

“Unfortunately, the niece took her own life after a long battle with mental health issues,” the family said in a statement to TMZ.

“She was very open with her fans about her struggles, she even wanted to help fans who were also suffering.”

The family has started a non-profit organization called Peace for Neece that will focus on mental health awareness and offer grants for mental illness research, according to the statement.

The model was found at her home in Houston, Texas, after a family member contacted law enforcement, according to TMZ.

“The niece was more than her struggles,” the statement said.

“She was beautiful and kind, sensitive and funny, creative and talented, generous and compassionate, thoughtful and challenging.”

Last month, the model deleted all of her posts on Instagram minus three.

One was published in 2015, capturing Waidhofer with an unknown man announcing an engagement.

“From our first date, I knew this was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” the caption began.

“Still, there is nothing that could have prepared me for the joy I felt when he asked me to be his wife.

“My love, you are all I will ever want. I will love you with all my heart until you take my last breath. Always <3."

He followed her with a hashtag that said “We’re engaged.”

Despite this publication, TMZ reported that Waidhofer was single at the time of her death.

The second was a video released in 2017, which showed the model dancing with a dog.

The third and final post left on his Instagram was a selfie taken in March from inside a car.

Waidhofer rose to fame in 2015 after starting the popular “Roast me” trend on Reddit.

The trend, designed to be humorous, allows users to upload selfies and invite others to abuse them, or ‘rose’.
