The Cowboys traded Amari Cooper to the Browns this offseason, leaving no doubt that CeeDee Lamb is the No. 1 receiver in Dallas.
Cowboys owner and CEO Jerry Jones says this is an improvement.
Jones told Star-Telegram’s Clarence Hill that Lamb will be an improvement over Cooper as a true No. 1 pick in the Cowboys’ offense. Jones said this is no touch for Cooper, but that Lamb has the elements of a full No. 1 receiver in “production, in concentration and off the field.”
Lamb had already largely outscored Cooper as the Cowboys’ No. 1 catcher: Lamb played more snaps than Cooper, had more throws than Cooper, and caught more yards per yard than Cooper last season.
But with Cooper gone, there is no doubt now which receiver the opposing defenses will focus more on when facing the Cowboys. Jones believes Lamb is up to it.
