Joe Biden, the president of the United States, has tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time just days after coming out of isolation.
On Wednesday, Mr. Biden, 79, jubilantly announced that he had recovered and tested negative for the coronavirus after five days in quarantine.
On Saturday, however, his White House doctor revealed that he has tested positive for the virus again, although he is said to be symptom-free and feeling “pretty well.”
Biden had been taking the drug Paxlovid, which has reported numerous cases of effectively reducing the Covid viral load only for it to return once the drug is stopped.
Mr Biden will now resume isolation procedures once again and his positive test is believed to be the ‘rebound’ positivity experienced by some Covid patients, according to doctor Dr Kevin O’Connor.
Writing on Twitter, he said:
