LONDON –
Hollywood star Johnny Depp, awaiting a decision on a defamation case in the United States involving his ex-wife and actor Amber Heard, took to the stage on Sunday at a rock concert in the city of Sheffield, in the north of England, and surprised an unsuspecting crowd.
Depp appeared with English guitarist Jeff Beck to perform a number of musical versions, including “Isolation” by John Lennon, a song they collaborated on and released in 2020.
Virginia jurors deliberating on defamation allegations by “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Depp and Heard were suspended Friday without returning a verdict.
Discussions will resume on Tuesday after the United States Memorial Day party.
Depp, 58, sued ex-wife Heard for $ 50 million and argued that he defamed her when she was called “a public figure representing domestic abuse” in an opinion piece she wrote.
Heard, 36, sued for $ 100 million, saying Depp defamed his reputation when his lawyer called his allegations “deceptive.”
Depp fans used Instagram and Twitter to share their views on the American actor’s performance on stage.
“Johnny is a crazy man … out of court on Friday … doing a concert in Sheffield, UK, Sunday … with Jeff Beck … mind blowing,” Twitter user @OneloveEarth said .
On Instagram, @flokpedals wrote, “I didn’t expect that … I thought I was in court, but it turns out he’s in Sheffield with Jeff Beck.”
