The former foreign minister spoke about the end of her eight-year relationship with her boyfriend David Panton before talking about her new company that saw her star in a campaign video alongside A-listers of Hollywood.
Former Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has opened briefly for the first time about her breakup with her longtime boyfriend David Panton.
The real estate developer dropped the news of his girlfriend earlier this month while they were having dinner at a restaurant in front of Sydney Harbor Bridge.
Mr Panton hinted that distance, with Mrs Bishop residing in Perth while living in Sydney, played an important role in her decision to end the relationship.
“I will focus on living in Manly and Melbourne in the foreseeable future. I wish Julie all the best in her ongoing stellar career,” a statement read.

On Monday, Mrs. Bishop was asked how she was coping with public disaffection in an interview about her latest venture with a mining services company.
“I’m fine, but I wonder how you two are,” the 66-year-old told today’s hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon as he tried to dodge the question.
Langdon went further and asked what he meant by “okay.”
“I don’t want to think about it too much. It’s a Monday morning,” a reluctant Mrs. Bishop said before Langdon acknowledged, “As long as you’re okay.”
“I’m fine. That’s resolved. Let’s go through the video,” he insisted.
The glamorous former minister was more excited when she talked about her role as ambassador to Perth’s Mineral Resources Limited.
On Sunday he announced the new company on social media and praised the corporation for “improving diversity, equality and inclusion.”
A seven-minute video included Ms. Bishop alongside Hollywood actors (Australian actor Hugh Jackman and Grey’s Anatomy star Kate Walsh) and West Coast Eagles player Jeremy McGovern to promote the benefits of working in the company.
Her comedic acting skills were shown to the fullest as she bounced back and forth with famous faces dressed in a variety of clothing, from a bathrobe with the monogram “JBish” to a pink dress and a dress of bright night.
“Hi, Jules, my phone is in the final stages, you can send me a lithium refill,” Jackman said via the video link to the clip.
“I mean seriously, how much lithium does a man need?” Mrs. Bishop joked with other women in the boardroom.
The former foreign minister also fought with Walsh wrapped in white towels as he stared at him deadly over who would use the hair straightener first.
“No problem, we have more than one plate,” Mrs. Bishop said before handing the tweezers to the star.
“In fact, we have more than one of them all.”
Last week he visited the headquarters of the mining company in Perth, where he smiled as he talked to graduates about how to have a successful career.
Other campaigns she has been part of since leaving politics include the role of Rector of the National University of Australia, a partnership with global makeup brand Estee Lauder and the launch of a doll with toy company Mattel .
