Jurors are due to continue their deliberations today in the sexual assault trial of Jacob Hoggard, lead singer of the Canadian band Hedley.
Discussions began Tuesday afternoon and jurors returned later with questions, including several related to what constitutes a position of authority for the purpose of establishing consent for sexual activity.
Hoggard, 37, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm and one count of sexual interference, one count of sexually assaulting a person under the age of 16.
Prosecutors allege that the singer violently and repeatedly raped a teenage fan and a young Ottawa woman in hotels in the Toronto area in the fall of 2016.
They also allege that the teenager groped behind the scenes after a Hedley show in Toronto in the spring of 2016 when he was 15 years old.
The defense says the palpitations never happened and that Hoggard had consensual sexual encounters with the two complainants.
