But as part of negotiations for Sunday’s fight, the couple agreed on a take-back clause that will fight them back in Australia later this year.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Kambosos Jr. he was adamant that he would exercise the clause.
“Yes, 100% we will do it again,” he said.
“If I hadn’t given him that chance, he wouldn’t have had his time right now. He’s been given the decision today, but I’m sure he’ll change when we put him back.
“It will make me more hungry. The real champions are recovering. The big ones. Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, all these boys have recovered and that is what their legacies do. I will recover with more hunger than ever.”

Haney also said he will give Kambosos Jr. another chance, albeit with one condition: the fight “must make sense.”
“It really depends on my team,” he said.
“They will draw up a game plan and if they are ready, I am in favor. We had to take less money, we had to travel … we made a lot of sacrifices to make the fight come true and it all paid off.
“I’m not dodging or dodging anyone. If it makes sense, if the network wants it, I’ll do it again. But it has to make sense.”

The judges might agree that Haney was the clear winner, but Kambosos Jr. he was confident that no major change would be needed to raise his hand next time.
“I felt the fight was very tight,” Kambosos Jr. said.
“From what I’ve been told, I overcame it, I overcame it, you saw the fight.
“He had a blow, but there wasn’t much else, I think he could have landed one or two right hands, but that’s all. There really wasn’t anything else. My body doesn’t feel like I’ve been through a war. of 12 rounds, as it were with the fight of Lopez.
“We will change the game plans and return to the drawing board, but my confidence will always be very high.”

As for where the fight would take place, Kambosos Jr. he said he “loved” being in Melbourne, but that he would let his team finish those details.
“He fought against it for his personal legacy and also for the good of boxing and the good of Australian boxing,” said Lou DiBella, promoter of Kambosos Jr.
“He thought this country deserved a big fight at the stadium.”
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is not convinced there is a different outcome and said “takeover clauses are bad for boxing”.
“I understand why they want fighters and promoters, it’s a business, but it’s bad for the sport,” he added.
